Encouraging Residents to Support Planning Transparency ePetition
Aston Clinton Parish Council
At its meeting on 16 June 2026, the Parish Council agreed to support and promote a Buckinghamshire Council ePetition concerning transparency in the planning process.
About the ePetition
The petition calls on Buckinghamshire Council to make public comments on planning applications visible to all, as is the case in many other local authority areas.
In March 2025, the ability for residents to view planning comments online was removed without prior consultation with residents, Parish Councils or local councillors. The ePetition highlights concerns that this change reduces transparency and public engagement in local decision-making.
Why this matters
Planning decisions can have a direct impact on the local community. The ability to view public comments helps residents:
- Stay informed about developments in their area
- Understand a range of views on planning proposals
- Engage more fully in the planning process
Many other councils continue to publish planning comments, leading to questions about the necessity of the current approach in Buckinghamshire.
Have your say
The Parish Council is encouraging residents to consider signing the petition and making their views known.
🗓 Closing date: 23 June 2026
