The King’s Coronation Event

To mark the King’s Coronation weekend, a major free community event was held in Aston Clinton Park on Sunday 7th May 2023, with rides and attractions for children and adults, cake, poster and allotment competitions and a highly competitive dog show.

There was music from Soul City and the Ellesborough Silver Band, and attendance by many of the village clubs and associations who took stalls or offered try-out sessions. Food and drink were readily available for the large number of people who attended, enjoying the sunny afternoon in the park.

The event was spearheaded by the Council’s event team, councillors and public volunteers who did an amazing job. Raffle prizes from local businesses to support our local charity partner for the event, Kirby’s Herd (for Cancer Research UK) and booking attractions and food concessions, ensured that everything went well on the day.

In addition, some very welcome funding was received from the Lottery Community Fund and the Wendover & Villages Community Board, which covered some of the costs. Our thanks go to all who volunteered to make this event a great success, and the many businesses who contributed so generously to the raffle prizes.
